I don't believe that corp America will postpone IT upgrades forever. I would suggest that the belt tightening must be completed first. Widespread layoffs, corp restructuring and the writing off of old inventory, excessive good will and other "poorly performing/unnecessary" balance sheet items is an important first step. Once a lot of the fat is trimmed, it will be important to continue the IT revolution within the leaner corporate environment. I believe time is one of the critical factors here and that it's very important to recognize that these issues are being addressed by well run companies.

As we move forward, demand for IT upgrades should increase proportionate to the rebound in the economy. To use some old cliches, you can't put the cart before the horse and you must have a strong foundation before you build.
