I think Sylvie was talking "Super Boxes" as in more capacity ala 40G, etc. The Chromatis and boxes like them - AstralPoint, etc. were commonly referred to as "God Boxes" as they rolled multiple networks into one: Sonet, ATM, IP, MPLS, etc. The market hasn't readily adopted these boxes due to the time it takes to stabilize software and to make them work effectively. Makes sense in the argument to consolidate network elements and to drive cost from the network but it was just too much of a leap in technology to get it working within the required time frame. Hey, it's the typical risk associated with any attempt at creating a disruptive technology. Just in this case, it was an unacceptable risk.
