Re: if AMD has been moving in fab equipment since Q4, if they have good yields, and if the TBred design is meeting their previous expectations, then what else could it be?

They could be shipping mobile parts to OEMs. We are a month away from the beginning of the back-to-school notebook season. And that could represent a fairly significant demand from OEM customers who are very anxious to not "Osbourne" their existing inventory with a noisy public unveiling of Thoroughbred for mobiles well ahead of availability in stores.

I'll be getting pessimistic that this isn't the case in about 3 weeks, if we haven't heard anything by then.

The Athlon4 notebooks went from being "it'll never happen" to "order yours today" almost overnight - AMD (and its OEMs) are good at secrets. Remember also that we haven't heard any stories that thoroughbred samples aren't up to par, either. Remember how the news about unacceptable performance from Rambus leaked? (Originally, most rambus machines were expected to be single channel PC600, competing with single channel PC100 - but it turned out that, despite higher bandwidth than single channel PC100, rambus was much slower in actual performance - and that news leaked from Taiwan).

So, while there hasn't been any good news, there hasn't been any had any bad news, either - just silence, which could mean anything.
