As far as the Koran, Joseph, it's probably the same situation as the Bible....it's all in the translation. Most Christians are not even aware of major scientific errors OR passages that encourage violence in the Bible because over the centuries it has been "changed" to accomodate more modern philosophy. I'm sure Muslims have the same attitude towards their holy book. Extremeists give the passages a radical spin & the sane, reasonable followers updated "kill the infidel" a long time ago. Besides, the Koran was probably written by Muslim holy men after the Crusades when they realized their teaming masses needed strong directions in the form of written words(like the christian bible) to inspire the protection of their livelihood. They were just following the example of the Christian holy men who discovered how powerful the written word can be when trying to control the flock.
