Now that's a world I know fairly well. Worked in a mail order coin store during college. I used to grade them, among other things. I don't go there anymore, but I occasionally try to keep the family stamp collection going.

In talking with the guy yesterday, it sounded like coins and stamps are at a low, so it would be a good time to buy investment quality stuff. I just don't want to go that route. I would go more go nuts trying to figure out if the premium is worth it in the long run...should I spend $100 on a 19bloopty bloopedyPDSOCC, or on 3 rolls of junk.
Conventional wisdom was that investment quality stamps/coins was good 'cuz rich collectors would always be there. Unfortunately, it sounds to me that both are dying as hobbies. Coinman is now totally out of the stamps, and uses a lot for postage.Sad. He thinks it was da kids getting into Nintendo (mine started with Atari). I thought the same thing about sports...we were always playing something; now they don't.
