Nothing has changed. Sharon has to maintain an illusion of control. Unless the Israelis completely re-occupy the West Bank for eternity, they have no changed the equation.
What surprises me is how the Israelis are turning on everyone, including journalist, peace activists, Preists, and Nuns.
The Arabs are dummies when it comes to defending their rights against a colonial power such as Israel. The young woman who denoted a bomb last week, said as much. She said in effect, "I do this because the Arab men will not come to the aid of Palestine."
Arafat is not going anywhere.
Money that goes into gas tanks and heating furnaces, does not go into restaurants, grocery stores,movie theaters, and department stores. An oil embargo will totally kill ANY chance of a recovery.
In the meantime, Israel will need a new financial fix. They must be spending a small fortune on their "war on terrorism". Time for the American's to open their wallets again for the only democracy in the Middleast.
