Biotech & software companies vie for "Corporate BS of the Year" award -

DataSys Customer, Phylos, Inc., Wins Coveted Microsoft Great Plains Pinnacle Award and Dessert with Bill Gates

MARLBOROUGH, Mass., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- DataSys Corporation, the preferred partner for Microsoft Great Plains Business Solutions in Massachusetts, announced today that their customer, biopharmaceutical company Phylos, Inc., was honored with the Pinnacle Award for Excellence in Teamwork. The award ceremony took place on Wednesday, March 13, at the Microsoft Great Plains annual Convergence Conference in Orlando, Florida, an event attended by approximately 3,400 Microsoft Great Plains customers, partners, and staff.
The sixth annual Pinnacle Awards continues Microsoft Great Plains' tradition of honoring customers who achieve outstanding success with-and because of-their Microsoft Great Plains solutions. Close to 250 nominations were submitted in seven categories and only 16 winners were chosen. The Excellence in Teamwork category recognizes customers whose collaborative efforts within their organization and with a Partner resulted in achievements that would not have been otherwise accomplished.
As an added perk this year, Pinnacle Award winners and their sponsoring partners were invited to join Bill Gates for dessert. Although the desserts were a gourmet delight, the real draw was the opportunity to get up close and personal with the legendary Microsoft founder. Phylos Controller Christine Clinton and DataSys President Lisa Daigle were among the honored guests at this invitation only event. Bill answered half a dozen questions from the audience, including one from DataSys' own Lisa Daigle regarding the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Formed in 1997, Lexington-based Phylos is focused on the exploitation of its cutting-edge drug discovery platform to develop novel products for understanding life and improving human health. The company has operations in the United States and Europe with an outstanding team of more than 100 scientists, management, and support personnel.
Anne Baia, Phylos' Vice President of Finance and Administration, shared these thoughts regarding their Microsoft Great Plains implementation, their custom purchase requisitioning application, and the Teamwork award: ``The scientists are the vortex of our corporate culture and their interest in technology lies in its application to their scientific endeavors. DataSys understood that the implementation and integration of the custom requisitioning application had to hit the nail on the head on the first pass, because the scientists are focused on achieving their research objectives and not on learning a new requisitioning system At the same time, interruptions in the supply chain at Phylos were not an option. DataSys brought their technical expertise and experience with other companies in the biopharmaceutical industry to the table, and worked hard to get a solid grasp of our workflow and information requirements. Together we were a great team and we worked diligently to meet a tight program deadline. The Pinnacle award is an honor that validates our joint success and the value of teamwork.''
DataSys President Lisa Daigle concurs. ``While the technology is critical, it is only one aspect of a successful project. Understanding a customer's business requirements and being sensitive to the needs of the end users are equally critical. At Phylos, the end users are a mix of senior finance personnel and scientists with PhDs! We needed to speak their language. The team effort involved establishing a common ground and leveraging technology to satisfy their needs. We're enormously proud that Phylos won a Pinnacle Award this year and especially that the award was won in the Excellence in Teamwork category. This brings DataSys another step closer to our corporate vision, which is to be broadly recognized as a company that cares.''
