Monday morning quarterbacking. Easy to criticize Clinton for not going after Osama. But this is a a democracy and leaders don't do it until the people want it. There was no public outcry for this. We were hoping for peace in the Middle East and thanks to Clinton came damn close if the bombers hadn't wrecked it at the last moment. Clinton spend a HUGE amount of time working on this as you remember. He deserves more credit for that. Also in his first 9 months Bush didn't change anything. Did he once mention terrorism? Did he ask for the CIA, FBI and INS to redouble their efforts even when there were warnings of an attack on the US? Nope. Too busy trying to hand over our wildlands to his energy buddies. Too busy raising money and worrying about a tax cut which hasn't helped the economy. Too busy stressing Star Wars was the answer to our defence needs (not).

After 9/11 ANY president would have declared war on terrorism including going after their money. Maybe not a libertarian or Ralph Nader but anyone else.

Who is to blame for Osama? Osama is to blame and no one else. Yes we should have squashed them all beforehand but not a single leader in either partyt was calling for it that I am aware of.

I think we've all learned a lesson now, that terrorism cannot be underestimated, tolerated or negotiated with. They are rats you have to exterminate them. Yes, Clinton should have done more, but hey, if he hadn't had to spend years defending himself from silly Whitewater accusations maybe he would have had time to do more. And if the GOP hadn't spent all that time trying to assassinate his character and impeach him (despite record prosperity for 7 years) maybe they too would have had more time to spend on these crucial matters.

Another Monday morning quarterback call is why didn't we take out Saddam when we had the chance? We blame Bush Sr. for that but in his shoes maybe we would have made the same call. Now it seems we have zero international support to go after Saddam. Now it would isolate us and be very problematic to oust Saddam. So it probably won't happen.

Good news in Pakistan nabing that king rat there. Hopefully more to come.
