I don't understand your question, because They have no earnings and don't expect to have any in the near future. Or did you mean revenues? And what would "positive" mean?

I would like to be positive about Amazon. I love the idea of this company. But I think that the IDEA is what people are investing in. I'm really tempted to short it, but it seems risky to short the idea, given how hard illusions die.

A lot of my opinion comes from my experience as a buyer of books. Funny that no one ever responded to my post awhile ago about my experience trying to buy a book on the internet. To me, this is the biggest factor in all of this debate -- when you add in shipping costs, it's just as cheap to drop by your local bookstore and get the book you want -- and you can have it today. Why wait for it to be mailed, unless you just happen to like the thrill of buying stuff on-line. In fact, if you've got a B&N nearby you can very likely get the discount without paying the shipping. I think that people are in denial about the real dynamics of this business. And I just have a hard time seeing how it's possible to make any serious money in this environment.
