no adjustment to the hardware is necessary. What is adjustable is the operating parameters in teh basestation and how much resources you allocate to handoff, power control fluctuations, etc. You can get at least a factor of two if all your phones stay fixed (and your sure that is the case...i.e. limited mobility).

So to make all the mods to the over the air interface for Soma, just use software settings.

one big difference in a WLL phone is that they tend to provide real phone type interfaces (can't remember the name right now) but it is analog, phone line type power output)..I think it is called BORSCHT? that part should be integrated into a single chip to provide a simple low cost solution.
