For those of us that never owned a typewriter I pose another question. What's a return key?

Guess you never owned a Mac either.<ggg> They used to have them. Not sure if the new ones do. For some reason they were clever enough to have one key called "Return" and another called "Enter" (on the number pad) that actually could be used for different things.

ASCII code has separate commands for "Carriage Return" and "Line feed". It takes both to get your printer to the beginning of a new line.
