Do you want to see if we can come up with a list of heebie-jeebies? Without being contemptuous, of course.

I'm bothered about offerings of sacrifices or the consumption of sacrifices--animal sacrifices, human sacrifices, and symbolic ones, as well. And relics, particularly bones. They give me the creeps.

I'm even more distressed by self-imposed humiliation. Groveling, breast beating, prostration, feet kissing, etc. My "essence" is built on the wondrousness of humanity, the potential. Humility is a charming quality, but all that sycophantic subservience undercuts my "beliefs."

I'm also distressed when I see the participants' eyes glaze over all beatific and trance-ike and in rapture. Same reason as the above. Emulating zombies is dehumanizing. Becoming a zombie is even more so.

And helplessness. Same thing. It really offends my "religion."
