Hungary Radio Attractive To U.S. Co Metromedia: Report

BUDAPEST (AP-Dow Jones)--United States-based Metromedia
International Inc. (MMG) plans to bid for a Hungarian national commercial radio franchise, the Hungarian News Agency's (MTI) Econews service reported Wednesday.

The minimum bid price of 3 billion forints ($1=189.21 forints) set in the tender is high and will make bidding difficult, Econews quoted Metromedia CEO Karl Brazell as saying.

Metromedia plans to bid in a consortium. Brazell said the other members in the consortium weren't radio companies but declined to give further details, Econews said.

Hungarian regulations require that a 25% stake in the consortium should be Hungarian-owned.

Bids for the tender are to be submitted by September 8 to the National radio and Television Board (ORTT).

Metromedia already owns a Hungarian regional radio broadcaster Juventus Radio.
