BEIJING, Apr 3, 2002 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- China Unicom announced on April 1 the international roaming services for code division multiple access (CDMA) customers in China and South Korea began on March 30.

China Unicom joined hands with SK Telecom, the dominant mobile telecom carrier in South Korea, to provide the roaming services. This is the first time the mobile phone users in China and South Korea could realize automatic roaming.

China Unicom said roaming services between the mainland and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region also began. The company is also carrying out a trial operation for roaming services to Japan, Australia, the US and New Zealand.
