Haitian voodoo?

Yes, voodoo. I was trying to cover the range of religion and it's dehumanizing aspect.

but the implication that those who believe in the importance of that event (even as apochryphal) are silly and not too bright that's offensive.

Did I say that? I don't think so. I only said that some aspects of religion, when pronounced in the public square, conflict with my beliefs and undercut them. My only implication about the religious people who do this is that they are uninformed about how that offends people of my beliefs.

If you believe in humanity, why is it so difficult to accept that most of humanity over the course of history has believed in a creator, etc?

I accept that without question.

I would think that one who holds what is good about humanity in such high regard would have plenty of room in their belief system for understanding there is great peace and comfort that comes from religion.

I do. I'm not attacking that. I'm only talking about one aspect of religion and I'm only challenging it when it is introduced into public gatherings and treated as innocuous. It's not innocuous.
