Re: So Duron will go all the way from 1600+ to 2000+ on about 40 mhz of improvement

Considering that you all thought it was great that when Intel went from PIII 1000 to P4 1300 and there was a huge drop in performance, I'd ask why you weren't screaming foul at Intel?

AMD is just following the market "leader" that sets expectations for the performance of a given model number.

Intel's model 2000 runs a 4x100 FSB, a 1000 (full speed "every other clock") cache connection, some 2000 ALUs and some 1/2 width 4000 ALUs. And they call it a 2000.

AMD calls their chip with a 2x133 FSB, 1667 ALU that outperforms Intel's 2000 a 2000.

Notice that the review sites that pander to Intel had to compare an AMD 2000+ to a P4 2400 to get the P4 to look as good as the AMD.

Then they whined about the model number 2000+ not being faster than Intel's 2400.
