I accept it as a theory
but it doesn't have to be right
and if it changed tomorrow, because new data came to light, I would be fine with that
and in fact, I am looking for that new data all the time
I do not think the same can be said of the religious
they are not looking for data to disprove their model
that is the major difference, imo

The main difference is that for many religious ideas you can't find data to prove or disprove the model. Religious belief is more like belief in a political philosophy or school of ethics then it is like science. Do you believe anything that can't be proven or even supported by scientific evidence?
