Nehru Jacket: The stuffed cylinder with a pinhead - the image of a politician
"…indicating a man's close-fitting jacket or coat with long sleeves, a Mandarin-type collar, and front buttons to the neckline, as usually worn by J. Nehru. 4.indicating a man's suit consisting of such a jacket and very narrow trousers."
Barrel-shaped Nehru jacket is the ugliest, unimaginative, hot-weather-unfriendly, oppressive, close-fitting, body-hugging, sweat-collecting, odor-retaining piece of trashy wear Indians wear and show in foreign countries. It makes the rotund Indian politicians look stupid, stale, and pig-like. The westerners and the fashion-conscious are turned off right out of the chute by this stuffed Nehru jacket. Why can't these bozos wear a proper native dress from their state or simply wear an elgant-looking western suit? It appears that the visiting women from India have shown supreme sense, wearing the sari and looking gracious. |
