Let me join you as a conservative who wants some abortion rights reserved to citizens themselves. I have no desire to join the debate on that issue as I recognize that drawing the line would be difficult for anyone who simply set out to do the right thing in choosing where the line should be drawn. This is not an easy issue, as a country we are quite divided on it, and I appreciate very much the sincerity of those who oppose it entirely. To me this is a weighing of competing moral convictions on a scale in such a way as to draw a line which satisfies no one but which keeps the peace.
