MONTREAL, QUEBEC--APRIL 3, 2002 - 10:54 EST Bombardier Transportation received an order from Alstom, valued at approximately $40 million Cdn (29 million euros), for the supply of 29 trailer cars and 58 carrying bogies for ZTER electrical multiple units. The production will be undertaken at Bombardier's site in Crespin, France. This contract was obtained following an order for 29 ZTER trainsets made by the French National Railways (SNCF) on behalf of French regions. Delivery of the new vehicles is scheduled to take place between May 2003 and March 2004.
This contract, which represents an additional order to a contract signed in 1999, brings to 51 the number of ZTER electrical multiple units ordered to date by the SNCF. The trainsets are destined for the following regions: Centre (15), Bretagne (17), Pays-de-Loire (14) and Poitou-Charente (5).
The ZTER electrical multiple unit consists of two motor coaches and one trailer car. It has a seating capacity of 217 passengers and can travel at a maximum speed of 200 km/h. The interior design of the new vehicles features an access ramp for disabled people and a waste tank for toilets.
