Here's a report on the Vatican statement in L'Osservatore Romano: thetimes.co.uk As for the "men claiming sanctuary", if Dreher's source is correct, they just shot their way in and never claimed anything, Arafat's pocket patriarch just said they did. I'll repeat my original question: can a church give "sanctuary" to a gunman who is using the church as a firing post?
