"please enlighten me on what xp can do that win95 could not do"

For me it was the ability to share a machine among multiple family members. I'm not talking about multiple user remotely using the same hardware, I'm talking about multiple users sitting in front of the system at different times.
My desktop and data is mine, and my kids can't mess with it at all. Zero additional software required
This one item was worth the upgrade.

Since then we've added two more PC's and I've set them up to use a central data source, so now no matter which machine I'm on, my desktop and data (Email & documents) are the same. Zero additional software required.

The wireless network support is superior. It just worked the first time. Zero additional software required.

Secure file system. My kids can not screw up my data. Zero additional software required.

Secure logon. In 95 you just hit cancel when logging on and you have the full use of the system. Zero additional software required.

Digital camera support is fantastic. I plug in the camera explore the pictures, dump them onto a CD, and send it off to grandma. She puts it in her PC and watches the slide show. Zero added software.

Those are my top favorites from the perspective of a home PC user.

Oh, and remote desktop back to my office machine rocks!
Zero additional software required.

Do you still drive your first car or do you now drive an "upgrade"?
