Good point Neocon, my suburbia is very diverse. We have a very large Hispanic population as well as Asian. We have black families living in our small neighborhood also.

The Seattle area hasn't attracted a large black community for reasons that I am not aware of. The city itself is quite liberal. In fact my husband and I have vowed that we would never live in the city because of it's tax structure. We avoid doing much business in the city also.

Seattle does give it's residents their choices on taxation, and initiatives rarely fail.
