My day hasn't been quiet. Tuesday a friend of mine, Charley, got shot in a robbery attempt. He rents the main floor of a house and the owner, Tom, lives in the basement. While the police were securing the scene they went into the basement and found Tom's little horticulture patch under a grow light.

I bailed Tom out this morning and when we got to his house it had city stickers on all the doors saying no entry because of code violations. He called the city and he's not allowed into his own home until he's gotten the list of violations from the city and then applied for permits to do the repairs.

Even worse the robber had come back and stolen everything of value and trashed the rest. Got his checks and credit cards too.

I did find Charlie's wallet and all his cards and accounts outside the back door where 6 cops and a city inspector had missed it.

Now I have to find Tom a place to stay.
