OT...>>But generally it doesn't happen because the winner writes the history. <<<

You are correct in that statement. The Israeli's will write the Palestinean history. But what about the history of the US and the other Arab states?

Arafat is a dictator...no doubt about it....but he outlived those other Palestineans, that were killed, assassinated, murdered, liquidated, vaporized or politically eliminated over the years by Israeli, America, Syrian, or Egyptian politicians .

The Israeli's ( Sharon) have an obsession with Arafat the same way Bush has an obsession with Sadam Hussain. This is like walking through the green door. Do we really want to find out what is on the other side???

I think Bush ought to start paying attention to the situation in the Middle East. His idea that peace talks will start when the killings stop is kind of stupid. Part of his problem is that he just can't bear to acknowledge that Clinton's Peace initiatives were on the right track up until the time that Bush took office. The thought of giving Clinton credit for anything (except leaving the White House after eight years)is unbearable to a Republican.
