... thumbed her nose at the passing ACLU activist who was preparing to launch into a frequently used diatribe regarding the U.S. Constitution. "No free speech for you, $%#@$!" [Editors note: expletive deleted]

Meanwhile, Scruffy was down in the pit taking the first shower he'd had in months. Singing. And, if you've never heard an out of work hippie actor who is practicing his Robert de Niro impression sing ... well, you're one lucky reader of this story. "Singing in the rain, just singing in the rain. What a glorious feeling ..."

One by one, the remaining inhabitants of "Muffy's hole" climbed the donut box stairs to freedom and/or they swam to the side and climbed out. It was reminiscent of a scene from "Close Encounters" when all the missing people were returned to their native environment. "Another day older and deeper in debt".

"Now, there was only one left down there to save. Big John. Big John, Big Bad John. They started back down, then came that rumble way down in the ground. Then everybody knew it was the end of the line. For Big John. Big John. Big Bad John ..." It's pretty amazing how a guy who was practicing his Robert de Niro impression could switch so quickly to singing like Gene Kelly, Tennessee Ernie Ford, and then Jimmy Dean. This guy was one talented hippie/actor !! And, he stood six foot six and weighed two forty five. No, not the hippie/actor ... Big John!
