<<I could tell you some stories about restoring a 73 Porsche 911E....>> Thanks for mentioning that- it sets me back about 8 years to much better days in California when my neighbor Dan wanted me to fix everything and was rich enough to afford it. We "restored" a 28 ft boat with twin diesels ( took about 4 months) a huge 6 wheel trailer, a 1972 VW bus , a 1972 VW station wagon and a Waverunner. Despite the fact that Dan and I were nearly the only ones to do the work, we had an audience of around 10 wives, kids, relatives, characters, beer drinkers and party goers around who were going to use those things when we were finished. And they certainly did. A sailboat and the Waverunner went to The Dana Point Marina, and got used by everyone. The Diesel boat got motored down the Sea of Cortez and around to Cabo and is still there. The Van was driven down along with a house trailer and can still be seen running around town with the roof open. Best overall adventures I ever had. I mean hey, I get invited to Cabo with free lodging and transportation, eat at the best restaurants on the beach, party at million $ homes on the water , go out in that boat all day and catch fish up to 11 feet long, tell funny stories at night. But still we have our feet in the sand, live in trailers not hotels, shower in outdoor stalls, ( anyone staying in Holels is missing the true flavor), take laundry to a little Mexican shop and pay in Pesos, drive the rutted streets in that Van , shop on the pier. And I did not have diddly for money at the time.!!! So why do we need all this money supposedly available in the market? You cannot buy your way into those adventures.I'm only 78 and so dont know all the answers, but a most important thing is to find somebody who thinks you can do job and you can accomplish some amazing things. Do a good job on those houses and keep an eye out for that person. Sig |
