You're in a room with three light switches. One of them operates the attic light upstairs, and the others do absolutely nothing. They are unlabeled. You cannot tell from your room when the light is on, even by looking out the window. You are allowed one trip to the attic to determine which switch operates the light. You have no help, and no tools. How can you know with certainty which switch it is? My father told me this one, and the answer is simple, but not readily apparent.
