Compaq readies big storage announcement
Leaks, when you need them, where you find them By Mike Magee, 04/04/2002 15:19:09 BST
WE HOPE A FAST TAKEOVER of Compaq by HP doesn't spanner this too quickly, but a mole tells us of a big storage announcement Q will make on the 9th of April. Although storage is widely perceived as boring, it makes a lot of money, and Compaq is paving the way for making lots of dosh with these products.
In mid-March it announced the NAS S1000 and the NAS B3000, but on the 9th of April it will roll out a number of supporting products.
Those will include SANworks data protection suites for backup and restore, the ESL9595SL StorageWorks enterprise library, the DTL1 1280 SuperLoader, along with barcode and cassette magazines, as well as its SANworks Management Appliance II, which sounds like something from a science fiction film.
On the same day, it will go with StorageWorks Rapid Restore and non-Disruptive backup – this is aimed at telecom building.
The motto – because let's face it, all product lines need a motto – is "Storage, where you need it, when you need it". |
