First, in the original context, I was thinking mainly about the difference between persuasion and the use of force. The promotion of brotherhood, and making of temperate arguments against segregation, would be criticism, and the rulings of Brown vs. Topeka, or the enactment of the '65 Civil Rights bill would be an attack, although in this case, one I would approve of, because it is peremptory and coercive. In a wider context, it is mainly the difference between temperate discussion and denunciation or aggressive ridicule.......
