Our memories of the '70s seem to differ. Not that I take this particular threat seriously, since Iran has traditionally had its differences with the Arab world. But if prices are going up significantly now, with no real threat of supply disruption, I don't think a (hypothetical to be sure) boycott would be pretty. Especially given that the US remains steadfastly committed to not, actually, having an energy policy except for maybe whatever works best for the friends of Cheney.
