Tom K, All sandintoes is asking for, is that we do as other countries do when it comes to immigrants. We are one of the very few nations that allow so many people of different cultures to immigrate here, and then bend over backwards so as not to disturb their native languages, and customs, that they, voluntarily, left behind. I have been in a number of nations, other than the US, and if an American immigrates to those nations, he will not be able to go to college, hold a job, or do any kind of business, unless he does all of this in the native language of that nation. He will not be eligible for any national benefits unless he renounces his US citizenship, and becomes a citizen of that country. In many cases, he will be prevented from practicing the worship of his religion, if it differs, in any way, from that of the national religion of that country.
The only ones not subject to such rules, are tourists, and others that may bring great wealth into that nation.
What is good for the goose, is good for the gander. IMO, all immigrants to the US should be required to use the Americanized English language in any public, or business, situation. They should be allowed to worship their own religion, but not flaunt it, or fling it into our faces. Any action they make that can be construed as disrespectful of the customs, or laws, of the US, should be cause for deporting them immediately. They should be dealt with as harshly as any US citizen for any crime they may commit.
Like sandintoes, I am sick and tired of molly coddling a bunch of ingrates that came here to make money, and better their living conditions, and then turn around an disrespect our nation.
