CALIFORNIA AND CALPINE CLOSE TO DEAL ON RENEGOTIATING POWER CONTRACTS Source: EnergyNewsLive Apr 05 07:57 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- California may save billions if the state can renegotiate power contracts with Calpine. Calpine officials say the company and the state are pretty close to reaching a deal. Once the deal is done the state will be able to buy power from Calpine at a lower price. California Governor Gray Davis is working to renegotiate or scrap 42 billion dollars worth of long term power deals.
