Steve: Please help me understand some of the fundamentals of AOL. Last quarter it reported subscription revenues of $381,486,000 or $18.17 per month for each of its 7,000,000 subscribers. As more customers abandon AOL as an ISP and access its services through the internet for AOL's fee of $9.95 per month, the company could realize a shortfall in subscription revenues of perhaps $50,000,000 per month. What is implausible about this scenario? The recent advertising deals were for the Internet site, so the smart marketers with deep pockets must be banking on this trend.
