Woo hoo!! Go Big Ten! *grin*

I've been trying to keep up the questioning of answers as you suggest. Lucky that I seem to have born with a talent for it I guess.. or if not a talent then an annoying habit of it. ;)

While I'm certain the questions I asked probably seemed loaded, I was just searching for the motivation behind your opinion. It seems based very much on an emotional reaction? And I didn't want to just take it at face value like that and misconstrue your meaning. As I said, I enjoy the dialogue. All of us, conservative, liberal, moderate and otherwise create a sort of harmony of opinion that I think is perhaps unique to this country. Like you said, understanding the issues is more important than being right, and I continue to seek that understanding. I still hold on to the hope that achieving understanding of the issues will lead to the truth, though. ;)

I remember once someone I was listening to on the radio(Limbaugh, maybe?) saying that Liberals view things in terms of good and evil, while Conservatives view things in terms of correct and incorrect. It made me smile then, and it still does, as I find more than a tiny grain of truth in it. I still can't seem to figure out where the heck I fit in, though I'm not so frightened of the ambiguity.

What reminded me of that quote is my favorite professor, a philosophy (one of my majors, scary and fun all at once)professor of mine who I believe is quite quite conservative. He's fond of saying things such as "This isn't one of those philosophy classes where we sit around and talk about how we feel.. the world doesn't care about how you feel, it is how it is whether or not you approve or feel good about it. What we're concerned about here is finding out how the world really is." Interesting as I find some of the more liberal philosophy faculty being not quite fond of him. lol. In whatever ways I might disagree with him, I admire very greatly the fact that he's unequivocal, and the most intelligent professor I've ever had to boot. And I relish every opportunity to listen to his thoughts and ideas, just as I relish talking with you.

Just strollin down the path towards understanding,

Take care,
-Tom the moderate
