Bob, re: nothing really changes
<...I suppose that they all opted for mountainous losses in productivity from using WinTel systems?...>
No, I didn't say that but since you bring it up, Bill HooFatt has a very good explanation for this earlier on the thread: exchange2000.com What I said is that many people who are 'puter ignorant vote with their pocketbooks as they have no other reference. And they buy into the MSFT marketing crap, using 'herd mentality' to make their purchases rather than using actual brain cells.
Thanks for elaborating on the history comment. I didn't understand what you were getting at, that's all. Of course, in reference to your comment <...Now who is the better marketeer?...> Well, I think I stated a short few posts ago that Apple's marketing is its own worst 'enema'. Apple chose to get innovative engineers, MSFT chose to get slick 'marketeers'. Oh well, we all have our strengths and weaknesses, don't we?!
Your 'just fine' explanation simply re-iterates your original 'just fine' comment. Thus, my 'just fine' point still stands in relation to 'having experienced something better'.
<...Seems to me you haven't done much test driving lately...>
As a cross-platform developer, I use both technologies every single day of the week! And frankly, I haven't met a MSFT flag- waver/Mac basher that has actually used BOTH to any extent. That is because those who have really given both a fair shot, come to the conclusion that all MSFT has done is to poorly mimic MacOS. Now, Bob, why would MSFT expend such an enormous amount of their resources to do this -- oh, except they brilliantly moved all the desktop items to the left, and called the trashcan a 'Recycle Bin' now that's some real innovation! I guess you could say that Bill Gates makes my point even better than I do.
