As far as which company has been doing better in terms of reputation and reliability, and which is slipping, it is a judgement call, but I think it's a reasonable one. Certainly eMachines is doing a lot better lately - probably the main reason being that they've been using better power supplies, but it's also since they added AMD as a supplier. As far as Gateway slipping - well, that story is something of an indication, isn't it?
