I use a phoneline network in my house and I have 7 computers all sharing 1 highspeed cable connection. Total cost = $45per/pc Wireless would've cost $125per/pc and another $250 for the access point.. Once they start to give it away, it will spread like wildfire, but then again there's no profits in "free" Of course we're talking about a "LAN" connection for the home.. They're starting to carry wireless I-net at the Airports and other public places (Hotel lobbies), but you would never know it's there because they don't advertise these services, but they are restricted for use inside their buildings... For an anywhere connection. Another type of wireless is the CDPD network that I use for my Lap-Top and this cost $39.99 for unlimited service through AT&T or Verizon, but this service transfers @19k.. Voicestream offers a plan for about $70 per month that uses the GPRS (GSM) service that transfers @54k but they limit you to 10mb of data. The problem here is if you logged on and walked away you would be paying for all the flickering banner ads and pop-ups... Verizon is now offering a high speed pcmcia card that uses the CDMA network that transfers @150k but they charge you by the minute.. I could just see myself trading from the boat and logging on for about 8hrs per day. That's about 10000 minutes per month. Even the best phone plan only includes about 3000 minutes and the rest cost about $0.25 per minute. So that service would cost about $2,000 per month...LOL... So you see, IT'S TOO EXPENSIVE !!!!! EOM Shoreco PS People want an always on highspeed connection for an affordable monthly fee, say between $30 and $60. Once they offer this type of service in wireless it will be a hit...
