Karen and I have a concern with thread hygiene, and the desire to keep wrangling to a minimum. It's pretty clear to me that trying to toe a line for fair debate does not result in improved thread hygiene. On the one hand, there's much resistance to the suggestion of constraints--and annoyance at the suggestors of such constraints. On the other hand, a sincere effort to toe the line does not provide any protection from charges of offense. It may even make them more likely. I don't see any net improvement in thread hygiene, do you? It was an interesting exercise, but...
