I never could understand what was offensive about 'lady' or 'ladies' so i continue to use it unless specifically requested by an individual not to do so [and only then if i remember the particular prohibition] ... there is no superiority expressed or implied in my use of it, rather a term of respect beside 'gentleman' which has also gone out of style for unclear reasons

The whole thing of tone of discussion - each must decide whether they want people to listen to what they say or to click next and move on .... there's the ultimate judge - series of little jabs interesting to only the two people involved bore the rest who tune out and go somewhere else ..... which might not be a bad idea here - too many posts to catch up, i give up -g-

'Forbearance' - i'll forbear a whole hell of a lot more from those willing to include themselves and their own kind/group in their pointing out of omnipresent human absurdities ..... but Solon was so right there - the non-believer does not present as ripe and wide a target, so it's a lopsided battle ... mostly i just leave the religious alone, what's the point anyway, better to find common or near-common ground maybe, for the most part ... of course under 'boxing ring' that's not what we're looking for, so carry on, everybody wang chung tonight

[edit] - forgot my favourite story on 'lady' - a few years ago a group of incensed fishermen were protesting the fisheries' policies here, occasion was the visit of the federal fisheries minister, who at one point addressed a questioner as a 'fisher' or 'fisherperson' or 'fisherwoman' or something, can't remember which ... anyway, this was one vocal and outraged person of the female persuasion who rightly perceived him to be dodging her very good question, and she fired right back as intro to her next speech - "it's 'lady fucking fisherman', Asshole"
