There was a wonderful sweet little documentary/autobio called the " Illusive Muse " ,
about the life of the dancer Susan Farrell .....
narrated by herself , with a touching insight and that beautiful lived feel of someone who still is very much atttached to a such a great art ....but what she was going thru during her days aas Ballanchine's ingenue , lover etc. with much footage and inciteful looking past the veils behind dance and a great dancers life .
I loved Susan Farell , and after seeing this I love her more...just a girl from Iowa who rose to the peak . But what she was going thru then , when I saw her dance before.
She is such a darling , and there's a place where shes returning to see her long time friend , who was the Dance master of the Belgium Theatre...who took her in , worked with her and gave her stage , when Ballanchine was being a bastard....
The look on her face as she walks up to that building and the looks on their faces as they sit in the studio and talk again ...such sweet friendship. Such respect and love .
very good little film , and i love documentarys of great artists lives...some nice footage of her as a young 19yr old greatest woman dancer in the world...taveling thru Europe with Ballanchine , or in the studio.
Now she still teaches...a good human being she is . |
