milo: "Apple, AMD, and the Mac Attack." Fabulous article explaining, perhaps, the recent flurry of AMD financings (UMC in particular) and repeated AMD management references to profitability in q2 FY02...
An Observation by the author: "Have you noticed that when US OEMs do offer AMD rigs they are not as feature rich as those made by *ntel? This I assure you is not because AMD is not the most advanced processor and a more affordable price on average, but rather WinTel strong arm tactics."
"We will all know a day when computing is easy and FUN! Apple is known for their ability to take the day to day tasks and design a computer around them, instead of the WinTel way of forcing the user to adapt their inadequate and inferior reproductions. And now as the two giants turn on each other and stumble in the dark, Apple and AMD will usher in a new day of computing at every level. No more will you have to sacrifice one feature for another, or function for stability, but all will be obtainable thru the Apple of your iMac!"
Apple/AMD would appear, on the surface, to be an unavoidable partnership as both bring to the table refreshingly innovative technologies and bureaucratically unencumbered managements...In one fell swoop, an OEM that would shake the house of InDell!!!
If you don't have Apple or AMD stock yet, you better get some, because WinTel is about to be schooled! |
