Israelis have not only stopped suicide bombings this week, but are rooting out their support network, supplies and also exposing who the trouble-makers are by attracting unfriendly fire, including from Hezbollah in Lebanon, Saddam offering money to terrorists, some Al Quaida reportedly showing up to join in (good, so Israel can kill them), etc. Is Israel had turned the other cheek these threats would continue to be a deadly secret force and would only grow in numbers. Offer the olive branch later AFTER the tangos are all dead and bleeding. Then they will have no choice but to make peace, surrender or die.
