<< What a waste of time >>
You sure are.
Wassa matter, Eric? Were you worried yesterday about the Sixers getting trounced by the Bucks? Well, they pulled the rabbit out of the tophat so I suppose you won't be hitting the Mylanta this afternoon, though I suspect you emptied a bottle or two during the game. <ggg>
I see from your post today that you did you not mean that the Koreans were mislabeling DO when you said this.
... SKT has launched 1xEV-DO, which THEY "label" as 3G in 800 MHz, not in the WRC-92 IMT-2000 2 GHz core spectrum that Korea astutely set aside for third generation services, and for which they hold 3G licenses to build out W-CDMA, and where they will start to build out W-CDMA next year ...
sktelecom.com
... and oh yes, WRC-2000 approved spectrum in 806-960 MHz band for the terrestrial component of IMT-2000, so there is no Hype, except on the QUALCOMM sponsored ALL HYPE "3G Today" website where someone is obviously trying to spin a silk purse out of a sow's ear by taking SKT's 2.5G numbers and labeling them 3G in order to try to convince people in Orwellian fashion that what was once an interim step to 3G, REALLY, HONEST TO GOODNESS IS 3G.

The use of the phrase THEY "label" in reference to DO suggested to me a measure of sarcasm and lack of credibility. The second paragraph went on and on about hype, etc.
Sure sounded to me like you were saying that DO is not 3G. I think it's a fair reading of what you said. It certainly was the way I took it. If it's not what you meant, perhaps you ought to take your own advice to JohnG and express your thoughts a bit more clearly.
Because it seemed like you were making the claim, I checked it out. It frankly seemed astonishing and not up to your usual standards of excellent fact-checking.
And, yes, the debate about what is and what isn't 3G is a complete and utter waste of time and bandwidth. It unfortunately seems to be something that has somehow gotten stuck in your craw.
But that's your problem. |
