Ted, the wealthy, educated background of many of these terrorists goes against the notion that poverty and oppression breeds terrorism. It should also dispel the notion that spreading economic prosperity will cure the cancer that is terrorism.

Andreas once suggested that we can only "win" over terrorism if you try and solve the problems that lead to it. Unfortunately, those problems go down to the roots of evil, to the very nature of sin itself. And no secular solution, from bombs to Freudian psychology, will ever be adequate.

Ten, I think its dangerous to lump all the terrorists together. I think the bin Ladens of the world are very different from the suicide bombers. I believe that bin Laden became corrupted by narcissism and ego centrism, and plays a dangerous game for his amusement. I think he to a degree personafies the evil of which you speak.

I think the suicide bombers are something different....they are very young, and easily manipulative by their leaders who are born of poverty and despair. I think a critical difference between bin Laden and the Hamas is that the Hamas, as pointed out by Yousef, are trying to help the community. Its not all about death and destruction for them. That doesn't make them down home folk but I think they are not the evil of a bin Laden.

BTW I hate that word evil.....its such a subjective term and I don't see it as us against them. I think the potential for evil is in all of us and its are relationship with that potential that determines whether we are or are not. FWIW.
