No, disclosing the loss is not a "trick".

A "trick" is putting the proceeds from a sale of assets in to reduce costs which may mislead the share holders to give the impression that the gross has continued to expand.

Using SBE's to borrow money off balance sheet is a trick in that it does not disclose the debt to the shareholders;

Come to think of it, treating Social Security as an "off budget item" is a trick, also.....awe, let's not go there.
