Ayn Rand? Oy vey! I had no idea you subscribed to that sort of cult. <gg>

Not at all... For starters, I do not believe in the "value" of gold as their most ardent believers would have you believe. To me gold is a medieval relic that its only value exists based on its industrial use and its hedging value, (aside the speculation value that continues today). That single fact alone creates no doubt their ire towards me and incredible "theoritizing discussions" LOL ! [which frankly I try to avoid].

But Rand has a larger value than that...

It is my antidote to other "idealists" and theorists who pretend to tell me that the good intentions of their heroes are "pure" and "valid" except that are misinterpreted or their taxing idealistical methods are misunderstood... blah blah blah... (Theories indeed !!) ROFLOL

All of a sudden it is NOT ok to bring up "theories" ROFLOL !

Best of all... it works everytime -ggg- like insecticide does with fleas LOL

In any event. HL Mencken had his own ideas about "phillosophers"

As for mythical gods... I do not want you to believe in anything you do not believe yourself. In fact, I do not want you to do anything you do not want to do yourself

The best examples of individualism I could give you are the thousand of small business people (developers for example), who CREATE something out of raw materials/land. They are too busy creating to even read useless theories that their real result is simply take from Peter to give to Paul.

Besides, I already gave you Bernie Ecclestone. The most hated guy in Motor Sports, yet, if it was not for him, Motor Sports (particularly Formula One) would not be where it is. Benefits to the poor you ask ?

If it was not for him (whose influence is world wide) lots of jobs would not had been created, from construction jobs in Malaysia to build a state of the art race track, to millions of workers involved in the racing car industry throughout the world, to media jobs thanks to television rights negotiated either by his direct intervention or indirectly by his influence.

Now Ray, remember that these guys are individualists, they are not "mother theresa's" so they are not going to do this on a free ride, and I doubt very much they do these things with altruistic intentions. They create, they do not "take" without giving you something in return. [Which btw there is NOTHING theoretical about this]. Alas, they do not tell you that they are going to direct you how to live, or take your money under the premise that it is for the benefit of the many...

And best of all, they won't tell you that an idiot strapped to a bomb blowing himself up and killing innocent people is something to admire for their "courage" LOL !

As for your comment about the Seattle thing and the WTO... come on Ray, the only thing these radicals have done is prove to the world that the Eko-Wakos are exactly that, Wakos...

Eko Wakos remind me of my disappointment when I see a beautiful woman with hairy armpits... ROFLOL !!! Like the huarache shod radicals with PhD in economics or similar "philosophical" science LOL !!

A hippie is still a hippie, and most of them smell !! ya know! hahahaha

In any event... time will tell if socialism prevails or human nature prevails... It is like "the borg". What we really need to do is tame our nature and slowly educate the masses... (about the practical world, not impossible theories)

Guns and bullets ain't going to do it...

Perhaps the reason why the leaches get away with their taxes as there is no one of practical value checking on them, while... as Mencken said, these leaches create fears for non-existent gobblings and cause the calmoring of the masses to be "protected" yeah, yeah, yeah...

I suppose Robin Hood, must have been one of those economist, or a political scientist LOL !!

I have never been in the business of preaching in order to "make the world" a better place as others pretend to make you believe. (That does not stop me from expressing my view of things as I see them)

There is no better world unless you take responsibility for your own actions. Individually, you make your world a better one. There is no theory about that, just action.

As for solutions to the Middle East...

LOL I doubt that there are any.

You would have to be rid of: (amongst other things)

1. Religion (a long time "tradition" of mankind)
2. Oil, in its present use and strength of its demand.

I have often wondered what would happen if we were to find a better method of employing energy...

Do you think the Middle East can survive by drinking their oil ? I doubt their tourist industry could make up for the lost revenue...

Unless of course they would make blowing up people an spectator sport ? LOL Ya think ?

Meanwhile, I will just stay clear of the maniacs, in as much as I can. -g-
