There is a technique often called data-mining. Some organizations such as the Heritage Foundation are masters of this statistical shenanigan. It works by combing through great databanks like Lexus-Nexus and finding unusual associations, such as the one about non-minority Brits. All that is found is a statistical correlation, and this is assigned to a writer to make up some verbage that tries to imply meaning in what is most likely coincidence.

There are many statistics that may coorelate, but that does not mean that there is a cause-effect relationship.
