If technically advanced countries like Germany and Japan - not in thrall with oil companies and w/o any oil themselves - do not develop an alternative to your imagined oil conspiracy that is economically better, why should we assume that there is a better alternative just waiting out there but for the oil companies? Your problem is you have no idea of the economics or science involved. You have only your uninformed opinion. There will be no "switchover" until it makes sense to do so. In the meantime, stop wasting gas.
