Wrong. And stupid.

The reason we haven't developed an attractive alternative is because gasoline is uniquely efficient - the power it contains in relation to its volume and most certainly because oil will not run out for many decades beyond what you predict. (Altho in Europe direct injection turbo diesels are the rage - 40 mpg - our EPA, and CA's, have made them non grata here).

The problem you have is with economics, not the oil companies. If technically advanced countries like Germany and Japan - not in thrall with oil companies and w/o any oil themselves - do not develop an alternative to your imagined oil conspiracy that is economically better, why should we assume that there is a better alternative just waiting out there but for the oil companies?

Your problem is you have no idea of the economics or science involved. You have only your uninformed opinion. There will be no "switchover" until it makes sense to do so.

In the meantime, stop wasting gas.
