Joe, Re: What do you think can stop future terrorist attacks?

There are basically two different ways IMO:

- fighting the methods of terrorism (money flow, camps, structures)
- fighting the roots of terrorism (poverty, ideology, economic and political situations)

The US is apparently concentrating on the first one. I think they should target both. The second won't allow for visible short-term success but will pay off much better in the long term IMO.

Invading Afganistan may be an example of that.

Invading might be the wrong word since the US didn't took over the country. But I'd put this into the first category and I think it was worth the effort. But if the US leaves now after the work is apparently finished they forget about the second category. It should be ensured that Afghanistan can be rebuild and that they have a stable government. There are some positiv efforts already done in that regard but there's still much of work left.
